Greta Schumacher
2s Assistant

Greta grew up in a small town in Northern Germany and wanted to become a teacher since she
was little – her first students were all kinds of dolls, teddy bears, or friends who wanted to play
school with her. Her love for teaching lies in the family: her mom taught 5th and 6th grade, her
aunt and cousin are high school teachers.

Greta got her degree in teaching grades 5th through 13th (yes, 13 years of school in Germany) for ESL, PE, and German
from the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany. She taught mostly 9th grade German
and PE in Duluth, Minnesota and then all 3 subjects in a high school in southern Germany
before permanently moving to the U.S. in 2010.

Greta was a stay-at-home mom for almost 8 years and is excited to be at SSDS now helping to
teach little ones. In comparison to teaching teenagers, it is amazing to see the little sweeties’
obvious love for learning and their immense curiosity. Helping to shape little minds and
teaching social skills to young children is a wonderful job to have!
