An SSDS parent from 2019 - 2025, Karen quickly fell in love with this school. Although her
youngest transitions to Kindergarten this year, she is thrilled to continue being a part of the
SSDS community.

Karen has a master’s degree in wildlife biology and spent many years traveling the world
studying reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and birds. After becoming a parent, she transitioned
from working in the field to working for a local nonprofit promoting the creation and
restoration of wildlife habitat. She loves sharing her passion for the outdoors and anything that
flies, slithers, or crawls. It brings her joy to watch and help children explore the world we live in.
An avid reader, Karen also enjoys sharing her passion for books with kids.

When she’s not at SSDS, you can find Karen birding in the woods, practicing yoga in the studio,
scuba diving on coral reefs, and playing pickleball.
