Joy has been a proud SSDS parent since 2019. She is the mom of a rising first grader (SSDS alum) and a rising SSDS 3's student. Before her children were born, Joy spent just shy of a decade teaching first grade (and a quick one year in kindergarten) at an MCPS elementary school. She also has her reading specialist certification and a Masters from Johns Hopkins University in Language, Literacy, and Reading Instruction. Currently, Joy spends her days doing her best to support her family and her son's schools, and her nights private tutoring all ages of elementary and middle school students across all subjects. She knows that teachers, administrators, and those who support them make the biggest difference when they work as a team and is grateful to serve on a Board that shares those values to make SSDS the amazing place it is.
